Our guides explain Thailand's visa rules in plain language. They're written by the Thailand Visa Corp team, checked against official Thai sources, and updated when the rules change. They're general, preliminary information, not legal advice.
Who writes them
The Thailand Visa Corp team writes every guide. We work with visa applicants in Phuket, so we write about the questions people actually ask us. Legal work at Thailand Visa Corp is done at YAI SIAM LEGAL GROUP CO., LTD., the Thai law firm behind Thailand Visa Corp.
How we check the facts
Before a guide is published, our visa team checks every rule, figure and date against official Thai sources, such as:
- the Thai e-Visa portal and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
- announcements of the Department of Consular Affairs;
- the Immigration Bureau's criteria and fees;
- the Board of Investment (for the LTR and SMART visas);
- Thai embassies' and consulates' published requirements.
Where requirements differ between embassies, we say so and give only general figures. We don't publish one embassy's own list as if it applied everywhere.
How we keep them up to date
Thai visa rules change often. We review a guide when an official source changes a rule that affects it, and we show the date of the last update at the top of every guide ("Last updated from official sources"). We only change that date when we've actually reviewed the guide.
What our guides are, and aren't
Our guides are general information to help you understand your options. They're not legal advice, they can't cover every situation, and they don't guarantee any outcome: the Thai authorities decide every application. For advice on your own case, you can talk to a Thai lawyer.
