Direct answer
Direct answer
Choose the route that fits the course or activity you genuinely intend to undertake and the official evidence available for it. An ED application concerns a qualifying educational purpose. A DTV activity application concerns an activity accepted under that category and the responsible embassy's current requirements. A provider's ability to sell a course does not establish that the course supports either visa.
In this guide
For Thai language study, the official London ED checklist expressly identifies short Thai or English language courses, with relevant authority and school documentation. Its current DTV activity examples identify Muay Thai, Thai culinary training and medical treatment. Those examples do not establish that an arbitrary language course qualifies for DTV. We would begin a language-study assessment with the education category and confirm the exact provider and programme before paying for visa-related documents.
The important comparison is therefore more detailed than “DTV is longer” or “ED is for classes.” You need to know what you will study, who provides it, which official category the documents support, how the timetable fits your stay and what happens if the course changes.
Our education visa guide explains the wider ED framework, while our DTV activities guide addresses qualifying activity evidence. This article compares the decision between them. It is separate from choosing Workcation versus activity within DTV, which depends on a different comparison of professional and activity purposes.
Describe the course before discussing the visa
Start with the course name, subject, level, learning goal, location, timetable and intended dates. Add whether it is a degree programme, a short course, sports training, a workshop or an internship connected to another programme. These facts should be understandable without reference to a visa package.
A useful description might be a hypothetical beginner who wants structured Thai lessons on weekday mornings for six months, with regular assessments and time for independent practice. Another applicant might want intensive Muay Thai training for a defined period. A third might have admission to a university degree. These are different plans and should not be reduced to the same “study in Thailand” label.
Ask what you want to achieve by the end. A learning objective helps you assess whether the course is suitable and whether the proposed duration makes sense. It also makes contradictions visible: a demanding daytime programme may not fit a full-time work schedule or frequent travel.
We suggest writing the educational plan before asking a provider which visa is easiest. That keeps the conversation anchored in the applicant's real purpose. If the course changes substantially to fit a sales package, reconsider whether it still describes what you want to do.
The exercise does not create an official eligibility test. It gives you the facts needed to compare published categories and ask a specific question of the institution or responsible authority. Without those facts, a confident visa recommendation may rest on little more than the course's marketing name.
Understand where the published categories overlap and differ
The London education page, last updated on 17 July 2024 and checked for this guide on 20 September 2026, separates school, higher-education, short-course, vocational and other educational purposes. Its short-course section names Thai or English language study and asks for relevant education-authority and school evidence. The exact institution and approval basis still need checking.
The current London DTV page, updated on 8 September 2026, lists activity examples including Muay Thai, Thai culinary training and medical treatment. An activity appearing in ordinary educational language does not make ED and DTV requirements identical.
Some activities can prompt a genuine comparison because a provider may offer different programmes or document arrangements. The assessment must concern the actual programme, responsible post and intended purpose. Do not assume that any gym, training business or school can support every category associated with its subject.
Where published wording is unclear, preserve the uncertainty. London's education page has broad introductory wording as well as specific course sections; the practical answer is to confirm the institution and programme rather than extract a universal promise from one line. A website's omission or example list should not be converted into an invented worldwide rule.
Our approach is to identify the strongest direct official support for the real activity, then verify the provider evidence required for that route. A longer visa label is not a substitute for that connection.
Use a purpose matrix for the first assessment
The table below is a way to organise the conversation. It identifies which question should be checked first; it does not determine approval or claim that every provider in a row qualifies.
| Actual plan | First route or question to examine | Evidence to establish before committing |
|---|---|---|
| Structured Thai or English language study | Relevant ED short-course category | Exact school, programme, approval basis and enrolment records |
| Bachelor's degree or higher at a Thai institution | Relevant higher-education route, including ED Plus where applicable | Admission, level, institution and current student status |
| Genuine Muay Thai or culinary training | Whether the actual programme supports DTV activity, ED or another appropriate route | Provider identity, course details, dates and official category requirements |
| Curricular internship | Education category and the internship's relationship to study | Home institution confirmation and host arrangement |
| Workshop organised by an international organisation | The particular official workshop/training category | Organiser status, invitation and purpose-specific documents |
| Remote employment with optional evening classes | The genuine principal immigration purpose and separate course admission | Professional route evidence plus confirmation that the intended enrolment is suitable |
| A course chosen only because it advertises a long stay | Whether there is a genuine educational or activity purpose | A real plan before any visa-document purchase |
Mark each entry as established, awaiting evidence or requiring official clarification. If the category is still uncertain, do not treat a provider's payment request as proof that the question has been resolved.
Also identify any part of the trip outside the course. Paid work, family travel, competition or an internship may create additional questions. Including those facts early produces a more useful assessment than revealing them after the application has been framed as straightforward study.
Check the provider and the programme separately
A provider's existence and a programme's suitability are different questions. Establish the legal name of the school, university, gym or organisation issuing the documents. Then identify the exact course and the approval or recognition relevant to the proposed visa category.
Do not rely only on a social-media page, a branch sign or an agent's description of a “licensed school.” Ask which institution will appear on the enrolment letter, who issues any relevant approval document and whether the programme you intend to join is covered. If a sales company collects payment for another institution, clarify that relationship.
Check whether the course is delivered at the location shown in the records. A provider may have several branches or use a different brand from its legal name. Those arrangements can be legitimate, but the application should not leave the reader guessing which entity is responsible for teaching and documentation.
We would also ask who handles student administration and how an applicant can obtain accurate records during the course. The person selling the package may not be the person who issues attendance or extension-support documents. Knowing the responsible contact can prevent confusion later.
Our purpose is not to create an unofficial accreditation scheme. It is to make the provider's actual role and evidence clear. Where the official checklist requires an authority letter or particular institutional status, the provider should be able to explain the genuine document process without replacing it with a guarantee of approval.
Read the enrolment letter as evidence, not advertising
An enrolment or activity letter should identify the applicant, provider, programme, dates and the relevant arrangement. Check that it describes the course you actually agreed to take. A generic brochure with the applicant's name added may leave important details unexplained.
Compare the letter with the timetable, payment record and accommodation plan. If the course begins before you expect to arrive, establish whether a later start is genuinely available and obtain accurate updated records. Do not simply leave the inconsistency for the visa reviewer to resolve.
Identify whether the place is confirmed, conditional or only proposed. An offer may depend on placement testing, payment, academic documents or another condition. The application should describe the status accurately rather than presenting every offer as completed enrolment.
For a training programme, ask what participation actually involves. How often are sessions held? Is the applicant joining a defined course or purchasing flexible access? Who records attendance or completion? These practical facts can matter to the coherence of the purpose even when the official checklist does not prescribe a universal format.
We prefer a concise, specific letter supported by consistent records. Decorative seals and lengthy promotional claims do not make an unclear arrangement more understandable. If the provider needs to correct an error, it should issue a genuine correction. Do not alter its letter yourself to improve dates, status or the programme description.
A real Reddit question about language study and DTV
In a Reddit discussion posted on 2 January 2026, a person who wanted to learn Thai described contacting a school about ED. They reported being offered a DTV document package instead and asked whether Thai language study qualified. They also described receiving contradictory answers from AI tools.
The useful lesson is not to choose which confident answer sounds most attractive. It is to identify the exact course, provider and official basis for the proposed category. The thread does not supply an independently verified application decision or a rule that a particular school can support DTV.
We would ask the provider to identify the actual category and the genuine documents it proposes to issue, then compare those with the receiving post's current instructions. If the published category does not clearly cover the programme, seek clarification before paying for a visa-related package. A promise to try ED after a DTV refusal does not establish that the first application is well founded.
We do not adopt the thread's comments about banking, extensions, work or guaranteed course acceptance. They are individual claims and include conflicting advice. The post also predates the September 2026 DTV document changes.
For a genuine language learner, this leaves a practical next step: assess the directly relevant education category and the actual school's evidence. Do not relabel language study as another activity merely because a different visa would be more convenient.
Treat attendance as part of the course plan
Before enrolling, establish the provider's attendance expectations and how they fit your ordinary life. Ask about class frequency, absence procedures, assessments and what records are maintained. The answer should describe the actual programme, not only the documents needed at the start.
We do not state a universal attendance percentage or number of hours for every ED or DTV activity. Those details depend on the programme and applicable requirements. Ask the provider and relevant authority what applies to the course being used in your case.
Create a sample week that includes classes, travel time, independent study, work if separately appropriate, family responsibilities and rest. An attractive timetable can become unrealistic when transport or other commitments are added. A plan that depends on routinely missing classes deserves reconsideration before payment.
If you expect occasional absences, ask how they are handled. Does the course allow catch-up sessions? Can dates be changed? What happens to records or support letters if participation is interrupted? Obtain a clear explanation without assuming that a private arrangement can override an official condition.
Our editorial view is that a course should be selected for participation you can sustain. The application documents are stronger when they describe a practical commitment rather than an ideal schedule the applicant already knows they cannot follow. That judgment is about preparing an honest plan, not predicting how an officer will assess attendance.
Match travel plans to actual permission to stay
Separate the course period, visa validity, permission to stay and any extension process. They may have different dates. Paying for a year's course does not itself grant a year of immigration permission.
London's ED guidance describes a single-entry visa, an initial stay of up to 90 days and extension at Immigration's discretion. It also explains the need to preserve the relevant permission before leaving and returning. The course's marketing duration should not be substituted for the permission actually granted.
DTV has a different structure: the current London page describes five-year multiple-entry validity, 180 days per entry and one extension of up to 180 days per entry. That does not make a short course into five years of guaranteed continuous stay or establish that the same evidence will answer every later request.
Put planned travel on a calendar beside class dates and immigration deadlines. Identify whether a trip creates missed teaching, document timing problems or a need to confirm re-entry arrangements. Do not book a journey solely on the assumption that the school will resolve every immigration step after payment.
For a hypothetical student with important examinations in one month and a family visit abroad in the next, the sequence may matter more than the visa's headline duration. We would choose and schedule the application around the genuine programme and lawful-stay plan, allowing room for the authority's actual decisions.
Consider ED Plus only where the education level fits
ED Plus is a separate part of the education discussion. It should not be used as a general promise attached to any course with “university” in its marketing.
The London ED Plus page describes the route for students at bachelor's degree level or above. It sets out particular re-entry and institution-supported extension features, and describes an additional post-graduation stay opportunity. The actual student, institution, programme and stage need to fit that framework.
For route selection, establish whether the programme awards the relevant level of qualification. A short language course hosted on a university campus is not automatically the same as enrolment in a degree programme. A certificate of attendance and a degree admission letter answer different questions.
Ask the institution's responsible international-student office which category it supports and what documents it will provide. Identify whether the applicant is newly admitted, actively enrolled or approaching graduation. Those stages may involve different records and next steps.
Our ED Plus guide is the appropriate next article if higher education is the real plan. Keep that assessment separate from a short-course DTV-versus-ED comparison. The existence of a benefit for eligible degree students does not establish the same benefit for every person taking classes in Thailand.
Distinguish curricular internships from ordinary work
An internship can be part of a genuine educational programme, but the word alone does not determine the visa category. Identify the home institution, host, educational requirement, duties, dates and any remuneration or employment relationship.
The Washington ED page separately lists curricular internships and exchange students, with confirmation from the applicant's university or educational institution and from the host arrangement. It also distinguishes workshops organised by qualifying international organisations. These are specific purposes, not a general category for anything described as training.
If the proposed activity is effectively a job, obtain the appropriate work and immigration assessment. Do not relabel productive employment as a course simply because someone offers a training certificate. Conversely, where the internship is genuinely required by a programme, preserve the records that establish that relationship.
Prepare a short description of supervision and learning objectives. Who assesses the student? What will be submitted to the home institution? How does the placement connect to the course? These details help the applicant and provider check that their documents describe the same arrangement.
We would also clarify what happens if the placement changes. A different host, longer period or new duties may require updated educational and immigration assessment. The original letter should not be treated as a permanent authorisation for any later activity under the same internship label.
Compare funds with the actual cost of participation
Official financial evidence and a realistic course budget are related but different tasks. The required visa documents establish the relevant financial condition. A budget helps you decide whether you can actually complete the programme and live in Thailand as planned.
Record tuition, materials, accommodation, transport, ordinary living costs and a contingency for changed dates. Include any travel required by your own plans. Keep these estimates separate from the official financial threshold or statement requirements so that an editorial budget does not become an invented visa rule.
For ED, use the responsible post's instructions about funding tuition and living expenses and any accepted sponsorship evidence. For DTV, use that post's current financial checklist. Do not assume paying for an activity replaces the separate funds evidence or that a sponsor arrangement accepted in one category applies automatically to another.
Check whose name appears on payments and statements. If a parent or partner funds the programme, identify the relationship and the records needed for the actual route. A payment made by someone else should not be presented as the applicant's own funds without explanation.
We recommend comparing the cost of the genuine programme and maintaining the stay, rather than choosing a category based only on a sales package. If the applicant can afford the initial documents but cannot sustain attendance or living costs, the plan needs revision before the application stage.
Read provider terms before paying for visa-related documents
Clarify what the payment buys. It may cover tuition, a reservation, administration, supporting letters or a separate service. Ask for the scope and conditions in understandable terms, with the legal provider identified.
Establish what happens if the course is postponed, the applicant cannot travel, the visa is refused or a different category is required. The provider's refund or transfer policy is a contractual matter; it should not be confused with an authority's decision. A promise to submit another application may still leave the original costs or timetable unresolved.
Ask whether documents are issued before or after payment and what genuine facts they will confirm. Avoid paying for a statement that does not describe your intended participation. If a provider promises approval, ask how that claim can be reconciled with the authority's role in deciding the application.
We do not compare prices or recommend a particular school in this guide. The useful comparison is what is included, who is responsible and what obligations the applicant accepts. Keep copies of the terms and receipts so that the arrangement remains clear later.
For a hypothetical applicant choosing between two similar courses, the more useful provider may be the one with a clear timetable, accurate documents and understandable change terms. That does not guarantee a visa; it makes the educational commitment easier to assess before money and travel plans are committed.
Check the application country before ordering documents
Your intended school is in Thailand, but that does not determine where you can submit a visa application. Identify the responsible embassy and your own nationality, residence and current location. Then use the current instructions for the chosen category.
London's DTV document-change notice, published on 8 September 2026, describes residence and criminal-record requirements effective from 31 August. Its scope concerns the UK, Ireland and British Overseas Territories. Older school advice or forum reports may predate those changes.
The London general visa page, updated on 8 September 2026, also distinguishes eligible immigration status, permanent residence for DTV and physical presence within its service area. Online submission does not mean every applicant can use any embassy from any location.
For ED, check the relevant post's filing rules separately. Do not copy DTV residence wording into another category without confirming that it applies. Likewise, a current-location record may answer a different question from a residence document.
Put this check before ordering translations or certificates. The receiving authority may specify language, certification, issuer and validity periods. Preparing a genuine document for the wrong procedure can still cause delay. A clear filing plan lets the institution address the correct recipient and issue records that match the intended submission.
Keep the applicant's history consistent with the new plan
Previous education and travel can help explain why the new programme makes sense. Present that history accurately, including earlier study in Thailand and any relevant changes of course or status. Do not assume a fresh provider letter removes the need to answer questions about the existing record.
For a returning language learner, explain progression in ordinary terms. What level did you complete? Why is this course appropriate now? If you are restarting after a long break, say so. There is no need to invent advanced ability or claim continuous study where it did not occur.
For a career-related course, connect the learning objective to the actual background without adding unsupported employment claims. A person may study for personal interest, professional development or a degree; the explanation should match the real reason and applicable category.
Keep dates consistent across the application, provider letter and personal statement. If a previous application was refused or additional information was requested, retain the decision and address any relevant issue through the proper process. Do not guess a refusal reason from a forum or leave out history because it seems inconvenient.
Our visa refusal and reapplication guide covers that separate stage. In the DTV-versus-ED decision, the history matters because the proposed purpose should be coherent with the facts, not because any single past visa automatically determines the answer.
If you also work remotely, assess that fact separately
Some applicants genuinely want to study while continuing overseas employment. That does not mean an education visa automatically provides the professional permission they need, or that any DTV application can ignore the course arrangement.
Describe both activities: the employment, hours and duties, and the course, attendance and learning goal. Then assess the principal immigration purpose and any separate work questions. Do not hide employment to make the education narrative simpler, and do not manufacture work to avoid establishing genuine study.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' general guidance distinguishes immigration and work permission. Specific current category guidance must also be applied. We do not treat an ED label as ordinary work authorisation or a DTV label as blanket permission for Thai employment.
Ask the institution about admission and attendance under the immigration arrangement being considered. Do not rely on an anonymous statement that every school accepts or rejects students with another status. The exact programme may have its own institutional requirements that need to be checked alongside immigration rules.
For a hypothetical employee taking optional evening lessons, the professional route may be the relevant primary assessment. For someone enrolling in an intensive full-time programme and stopping work, the education route may be more relevant. The answer should follow actual activities and evidence, not whichever letter is easiest to obtain.
Plan for illness, postponement or withdrawal
A real course can be disrupted. Before applying, ask what happens if the provider postpones the start, you become unable to attend or you decide to withdraw. Establish both the provider's process and the immigration questions that would need checking.
Do not assume a private agreement to pause tuition automatically pauses immigration deadlines. Permission to stay has its own end date. A replacement course or provider may require a new assessment or different documentation, depending on the actual procedure.
Keep records of genuine changes and obtain accurate updated letters where needed. A revised timetable should not silently imply that the original course continued as planned. If the applicant stops the activity entirely, seek guidance on the effect on the current status rather than continuing to rely on an outdated purpose statement.
We recommend a simple contingency file: provider contact, cancellation or transfer terms, current permission, relevant deadlines and the authority or adviser responsible for the next check. This makes it easier to respond calmly when plans change.
The point is not to anticipate every unlikely problem. It is to identify the events most likely to affect the basis of the stay. A workable route should include a responsible next step if the course no longer happens, rather than depend on the assumption that a visa's printed validity makes the underlying activity irrelevant.
Keep family and accommodation arrangements realistic
Study decisions often involve a partner, child or parent. Map each person's status separately. Admission to a course does not automatically establish permission for the rest of the household, and a family arrangement should not be inferred from the student's visa label alone.
Record who will travel, the relationship, ages where relevant, nationality, residence and intended duration. Then assess the actual family categories and supporting documents. If one person has independent professional or retirement eligibility, that may be a separate option worth examining.
Accommodation should fit the programme. Check travel time to the teaching location, whether early or evening sessions are practical and whether a move between branches would change the commute. A cheaper distant apartment can make regular participation harder even when the visa paperwork is complete.
For a minor student, establish the institution's arrangements for responsible adults, consent and contact information. Do not assume a general adult short-course comparison answers the guardian or school-enrolment questions for a child.
We would put the household calendar beside the class timetable. School holidays, a partner's work travel and family obligations can affect the student's participation and document timing. The preferred route should support the actual household plan rather than require each person to behave as though they are travelling alone.
A hypothetical language learner comparing two offers
Imagine a beginner who wants six months of structured Thai study. One provider describes an ED-supported programme with a timetable and relevant institution documents. Another offers a DTV package but gives little explanation of the category basis. This is a hypothetical scenario, not a review of any real provider.
We would first compare the courses themselves: teaching location, level, schedule, attendance, learning support and the applicant's practical ability to participate. If the educational offering is unsuitable, the visa feature should not rescue it.
Then we would examine the document basis. The ED offer needs to be checked against the responsible post's current short-course requirements and the actual school's position. The DTV offer needs a clear official basis for the exact activity; a provider's confidence does not supply that basis.
If the DTV claim remains unverified, we would not recommend presenting the course as a qualifying activity simply because the applicant prefers five-year validity. The appropriate next step is to resolve the category or proceed with an independently suitable route whose requirements can be established.
Finally, compare payment and change terms. What happens if the intended start date moves or the visa decision arrives later? A useful decision weighs educational fit, evidence and practical commitments together. It does not start and finish with the number of years printed in a sales message.
A hypothetical trainee whose travel matters
Consider someone who genuinely wants a defined period of Muay Thai training and already plans several international trips during the year. The applicant is comparing programmes and a possible DTV activity route with an education-based alternative. Again, this is a hypothetical example.
We would establish the programme's actual structure and which category the provider's evidence can support. Flexible gym access, a structured educational course and a short recreational experience may require different assessment. The shared subject does not make the arrangements identical.
Next, place the travel dates beside the training schedule. Can the applicant complete the intended participation? Does the provider allow changes? Which immigration steps need checking before departure and return? The applicant should not assume that multiple-entry validity removes the need for a coherent current purpose.
The financial comparison should include the genuine programme and planned travel, while keeping official funds evidence separate. If a provider requires substantial advance payment, examine the terms before committing. Do not assume that an unused course balance can be transferred or refunded after a visa decision.
The most suitable route may be the one whose actual activity evidence and stay structure fit the person's existing travel. That is a conclusion to reach after the programme and filing requirements are verified. It is not a universal recommendation that everyone training in the same sport should choose the same visa.
Make the final comparison with a document-and-calendar review
Before deciding, assemble the essential facts on one page: purpose, provider, programme, dates, attendance expectations, filing authority, funds and any other activities. Add the specific documents available for each shortlisted route.
Read the page against the calendar. Does the course begin after a realistic application process? Are important dates supported by the current provider records? Does planned travel interrupt the programme or create an unresolved permission question? Identify the dependency instead of smoothing it over with optimistic wording.
Then review the evidence from the perspective of someone unfamiliar with the plan. Can they see which institution teaches the applicant and what the applicant will actually do? Is a conditional offer clearly labelled? Do payments and sponsorship records connect to the same person and course?
Keep a list of unresolved matters, with the party responsible for each answer. A provider can explain its programme and documents; an embassy or immigration office determines its applicable requirements; other work or professional questions may need separate advice. Sending every question to the salesperson may produce confident answers without the necessary authority.
Our recommendation is to choose only after the purpose, evidence and practical schedule tell the same story. A route can look promising while still requiring clarification. Recognising that distinction helps the applicant make a concrete decision without confusing an attractive proposal with an assessed application.
Frequently asked questions
Is DTV always better because it lasts longer?
No. Validity, permission to stay and the underlying activity are separate questions. A long validity period is useful only if the applicant has a genuine qualifying purpose and can manage the actual stay structure. Compare the course, provider evidence and timetable before deciding that a larger headline duration is an advantage.
Does learning Thai automatically qualify as a DTV activity?
The current sources inspected do not establish that any Thai language course qualifies. London explicitly lists language study in its ED short-course section, while its DTV examples name other activities. We would assess the exact language programme through the education route first and obtain official clarification for any different proposed category.
Can a school guarantee my visa?
A school can describe its programme and provide genuine documents within its role. It does not make the authority's decision. Ask what a guarantee actually means in the provider's terms, including any refund or alternative service, and keep that contractual promise separate from immigration eligibility and approval.
Must every ED student attend the same number of hours?
Do not assume a universal rule from another student's experience. Check the actual programme and relevant authority's requirements. Obtain a clear timetable and attendance explanation from the provider. Your plan should be practical for that schedule, and any absence or course change should be handled through the appropriate process.
Can I stop studying once the visa has been issued?
Do not assume that the original purpose becomes irrelevant after issuance. If you withdraw, pause or change the activity, establish the consequences for the actual permission and next steps with the relevant authority. A provider's agreement about tuition does not itself change immigration dates or conditions.
What if I want a university degree?
Start with the institution, admission and programme level, then assess the relevant education category. ED Plus may matter for eligible bachelor's-level and higher study, but its features should not be copied to unrelated short courses. Ask the institution's responsible student office which route and documents apply to your actual programme.
Can I work while holding an education visa?
Do not treat an education visa as general work authorisation. Describe the actual employment or activity for a separate assessment, including the employer, duties and location. If remote work is part of the plan, consider the appropriate professional route and the course's admission requirements together, using accurate facts rather than omitting one activity.
What information helps TVC assess the comparison?
Begin with nationality, current country and residence, proposed dates, the exact provider and course, learning objective, timetable and any work or family plans. Describe which enrolment and authority documents are available. Sensitive documents can follow once the purpose and handling process are clear; the first task is to identify the actual route questions.
Reader questions in Reddit and Quora-style discussions
These editorial questions focus on practical decisions in DTV vs ED for Study or Training: Match the Visa to the Real Activity. They are not quotations from, or claims about, particular Reddit or Quora users. The answers apply the official-source distinctions explained above to this article's facts.
A school offers both DTV and ED paperwork. Which route should I ask for?
Begin with the actual course, provider and purpose, not the easier-sounding letter. Ask the school for its programme dates, attendance requirements, legal identity and the exact document it can issue for each route. Compare those facts with the current requirements of your application mission. A marketing description of a course does not by itself prove eligibility for either category.
Can I change a short training plan into a long academic programme later?
A later plan may call for a different visa category or new application. Preserve the original records and verify the procedure before changing commitments, particularly where admission, attendance or provider approvals differ. Do not assume a visa granted for one activity automatically covers an unrelated programme.
